Westchase Real Estate

Westchase is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County. It is located halfway between Tampa and Clearwater. Its boundaries include Oldsmar to the west, Keystone to the north, Town ‘n’ Country to the south and Citrus Park to the east.

Westchase’s History

Westchase was founded in 1991 with the approval of the County Commissioners of Hillsborough County. The Westchase Community Association is the largest deed-restricted community (homeowners association) within the Westchase Census Designated Place. This Association is organized into 28 neighborhoods, or villages. Some of these villages are organized into even smaller subsections. Each of these villages and their “sub-villages,” are represented by a Voting Member and at least one Alternate who are elected annually by the residents of a particular neighborhood.

Westchase’s Geography

Westchase, Florida is centered at 28°3′10″ North and 82°36′41″ West. It has a total area of  10.8 sq mi (27.9 km2) of which, 10.7 sq mi (27.8 km2) is land and 0.1 sq mi (0.1 km2) is water.

Recreational Amenities in Westchase

Westchase Golf Course is a major recreational amenity for the community and the course is open to the public. Tampa Bay Downs Horse Racetrack is located on the area’s western edge. It offers Thoroughbred racing, gambling, and the state-of-the-art Downs Golf Practice Facility. Westchase also has a village called West Park, with two town centers. The village has a more vibrant community with people walking to shops, bars, restaurants and village greens.

Westchase Schools

Westchase has various public schools, including elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. The public district schools in Westchase are operated by Hillsborough County Public Schools. Children attending elementary school go to Westchase Elementary School. A middle school in Westchase is Davidsen Middle School. The high school in Westchase is Alonso High School. Private schools in the area include Incarnation Catholic School, Tampa Catholic High School, and Jesuit High School.

For residents looking for art and culture event in Westchase, the Tampa Museum of Art is only a short drive away and houses modern and classical art. West Park Village offers residents planned activities, such as a Summer Concert Series and nightly specials at the different village restaurants, and an annual pub crawl.
