Wesley Chapel is located in Pasco County. In 2003, some residents of Wesley Chapel started a movement to incorporate the community (including areas not in the official CDP) which was ultimately unsuccessful. Wesley Chapel is considered part of the Tampa Bay Area metro.
Wesley Chapel’s History
Wesley Chapel, a census-designated place (CDP), was originally named for the Methodist chapel that stood on the northwest corner of SR 54 and Boyette Road. A popular nickname for the area was “Gatorville.”
Since then, Wesley Chapel has grown significantly. New luxury residential communities have been built which have attracted newcomers from other parts of the state and outside of Florida. As of the 2010 US Census, there were 44,092 people, 15,745 households, and 11,841 families residing in the CDP. Apartment, townhome, and retirement communities have all been built or are in the process of being built.

Wesley Chapel, Florida is centered at 28°10′43″ North and 82°21′2″ West. It has a total area of 6.1 sq mi (15.8 km2) of which, 6.1 sq mi (15.7 km2) is land and 0 sq mi (0.1 km2) is water.
Recreational Amenities in Wesley Chapel
Wesley Chapel offers a number of recreational amenities including outdoor sports complexes and parks. Wesley Chapel District Park offers a walking trail, as well as, several fields for different kinds of sports. Wesley Chapel Sports Complex is a major recreation center for youth and adult sports in Wesley Chapel. Residents also have access to malls that have recently opened, including the Shops at Wiregrass and The Grove, which offer shopping, dining and more.

Wesley Chapel has various public schools, including 2 middle schools and 2 high schools. The public district schools in Wesley Chapel are operated by Pasco County School District. Children attending elementary school go to Seven Oaks Elementary School, Wesley Chapel Elementary School, Sand Pine Elementary School. The middle schools in Wesley Chapel are Dr. John Long Middle School and Thomas E. Weightman Middle School. The high schools in Wesley Chapel are Wiregrass Ranch High School and Wesley Chapel High School.
Art and Culture in Wesley Chapel
Attractions in Wesley Chapel include the Pioneer Florida Museum. It is also home to Pasco-Hernando State College’s latest campus, Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, which occasionally hosts arts and cultural events.
