Land O’ Lakes’s History
Land O’ Lakes was originally settled in the 1880’s starting with a stagecoach relay station between Brooksville and Tampa. The railroads were very important to the development of the area with several small towns springing up nearby. On September 1, 1950, the Ehren post office was renamed Land O’ Lakes and the community became known as Land O’ Lakes.
In the 1990s, Land O’ Lakes experienced a rapid population growth. Today, there are roughly 30,000 people living in Land O’ Lakes. The median income for a household in the CDP was $72,500, and the median income for a family was $81,218.

Land O’ Lakes, Florida is centered at 28°12′14″ North and 82°26′56″ West. It has a total area of 21.1 sq mi (54.7 km2). Some of the area is covered with water.
Recreational Amenities in Land O’ Lakes
The Land O’ Lakes Recreation Complex, located on Collier Parkway, is an athletic park of nearly 80 acres of land. This park features baseball, football and soccer fields. In addition, there are also tennis and basketball courts available.
Other park locations include Land O’ Lakes Community Park, which is a neighborhood park that houses the Community Center. The center can be reserved for events and there are also plans to expand this park in the future so that it will include more trails, fields and parking.
